With its leaf shaped roof and views that follow the curve of the coast, this massive remodel / addition features a very private entry from the street into an entry courtyard with a Koi pond and 15' tall cascading water feature. Off the expansive second-floor office is a living roof garden. Confluence is the inspiration for the design of the home, the meeting of sea and land. The exterior stone panels echo the colors and textures in the bluffs, and curvilinear glass and roof shapes reflect the ocean waves. The clients were dedicated to using ecologically responsible materials and a variety of off-grid energy systems. Interior doors were custom-made by a Bay Area artisan out of the wood from a family ranch in Kauai, floors were from salvaged walnut, and the windows from Austria were constructed of certified mahogany.
